Crimes Act 1958 - SECT 392

Refusal to plead

392. Refusal to plead



If any person being so arraigned stands mute of malice or will not answer
directly to the indictment or presentment, the court may order the proper
officer to enter a plea of "Not guilty" on behalf of such person; and the plea
so entered shall have the same force and effect as if he had actually pleaded
the same.
