BIRTHS, DEATHS AND MARRIAGES REGISTRATION ACT 1996 - SECT 27
Child's consent to change of nameA change of a name of a child aged 12 years or more must not be registered unless—
(a) the child consents to the change of name; or
(b) the child is unable to understand the meaning and implications of the change of name.
