Definitions
3. Definitions
In this Act unless inconsistent with the context or subject-matter- bail
justice means-
(a) bail justice appointed under section 120 of the
Magistrates' Court Act 1989; or
(b) bail justice by virtue of holding a prescribed office under
section 121 of the Magistrates' Court Act 1989;

court means court or judge and, in any circumstances where a member of the
police force or other person is empowered under the provisions of this Act to
grant bail, includes that member or person;
drug of dependence has the same meaning as in the
Drugs, Poisons and Controlled Substances Act 1981;
legal practitioner means an Australian legal practitioner within the meaning
of the Legal Profession Act 2004;

prison includes remand centre or youth justice centre under the
Children, Youth and Families Act 2005 and any other place where persons may be
detained in legal custody and imprisonment has a corresponding interpretation;
undertaking means undertaking in writing signed by an accused person or an
accused person and his surety or sureties that the accused person will appear
upon an adjourned hearing or upon his trial or for sentence and surrender
himself into custody.
