Uncared for property

24A. Uncared for property



(1) This section applies if-

   (a)  the owner of any property in Victoria is absent from Victoria and has
        no agent or attorney in Victoria with authority to take possession of
        and administer the property; or

   (b)  it is not known who the owner of any property in Victoria is; or

   (c)  it is not known where the owner of any property in Victoria is; or

   (d)  it is not known whether the owner of any property in Victoria is alive
        or dead; or

   (e)  the owner of any property in Victoria is dead and has left executors
        or administrators and it is not known where they are.

(2) If a trustee company applies for an order and the Court is satisfied that
it is in the interests of the owner of the property or of any other person,
the Court may make an order on any terms and conditions it thinks fit
authorising the trustee company to do any act, matter or thing in relation to
the property or affairs of the owner of the property as is specified in the
order.
