9. Keeping and destruction of restricted records
(1) The Chief Commissioner of Police must cause a restricted record (whether
made before or after the commencement of section 35 of the Commonwealth Act)
that is in the possession of the Police Force to be kept, except when it is
being otherwise dealt with in accordance with the Commonwealth Act and this
Act, in a secure place where it is not accessible to persons other than
persons who are entitled so to deal with it.
(2) The Chief Commissioner of Police must cause a restricted record of a kind
referred to in subsection (1) to be destroyed forthwith if he or she is
satisfied that the restricted record is not likely to be required for a
permitted purpose in relation to the Police Force, other than a purpose
connected with an inspection of the kind referred to in section 11 or with a
report on such an inspection.
