PARLIAMENT OF VICTORIA
A BILL
to amend the Tertiary Education Act 1993 and for other purposes.
Tertiary Education (Amendment) Act
1998
The Parliament of Victoria enacts as follows:
1. Purpose
The purpose of this Act is to extend the
application of the requirement to provide
information to the Minister for the purpose of
5 planning and co-ordinating higher education.
2. Commencement
This Act comes into operation on the day on
which it receives the Royal Assent.
3. Supply of information

(1) In section 5 of the Tertiary Education Act 1993,
No. 18/1993.
for "post-secondary education institution"

as at
substitute "prescribed institution".

(2) At the end of section 5 of the Tertiary Education
amended by
5 Act 1993 insert--
Nos 70/1997
and 80/1997.
'(2) In this section--
"prescribed institution" means--
(a) a post-secondary education
institution;
10 (b) an institution in respect of which
an Order under section 10(1A) is
in force;
(c) an institution that in accordance
with section 11 confers or offers
15 to confer a higher education
award, or offers or conducts a
course of study leading to the
conferral of a higher education
award.'.
20 4. Statute law revision
In section 15(1)(d) of the Tertiary Education
Act 1993, after "council;" insert "or".
