Senate Elections Amendment Bill 2006
A Bill for an Act to amend the Senate Elections Act 1958 and for
other purposes.
The Parliament of Victoria enacts:
1 Purpose
The purpose of this Act is to amend the Senate
Elections Act 1958 as a consequence of the
amendment to the Commonwealth Electoral Act
5 1918 to reduce the period for the close of the rolls
for a Senate election.
2 Commencement
This Act comes into operation on the day after the
day on which it receives the Royal Assent.

10 (1AA) In sub-section (1), working day means any
day except--
(a) a Saturday or a Sunday; or
(b) a day that is a public holiday in any
State or Territory.".
15 4 Repeal of Act
This Act is repealed on the first anniversary of its
commencement.
