Bill 2007
A Bill for an Act to amend the Parliamentary Committees Act 2003
and the Parliamentary Salaries and Superannuation Act 1968 and
for other purposes.
The Parliament of Victoria enacts:
PART 1--PRELIMINARY
1 Purpose
The purpose of this Act is--
(a) to amend the Parliamentary Committees
5 Act 2003 so as to--
(i) rename the Economic Development
Committee as the Economic
Development and Infrastructure
Committee and alter its functions; and

s. 2
(ii) rename the Rural and Regional
Services and Development Committee
as the Rural and Regional Committee;
and
5 (iii) increase the maximum number of
members of a Joint Investigatory
Committee; and
(b) to amend the Parliamentary Salaries and
Superannuation Act 1968 so as to--
10 (i) remove the requirement that the Third
Party must have at least 4 members of
the Council before its Leader in the
Council is entitled to additional salary;
and
15 (ii) provide for an increased amount of
additional salary for the Chairperson of
the Public Accounts and Estimates
Committee and the Chairperson of the
Scrutiny of Acts and Regulations
20 Committee and an entitlement to
additional salary for the Deputy
Chairperson of each of those
Committees.
2 Commencement
25 This Act comes into operation on the day after the
day on which it receives the Royal Assent.

(2) In section 16(1) of the Parliamentary
25 Committees Act 2003 omit "Services and
Development".
6 Membership of Joint Investigatory Committees
In section 21(1) of the Parliamentary
Committees Act 2003 for "9" substitute "10".

After section 65 of the Parliamentary
Committees Act 2003 insert--
"66 Transitional provision--2007 Act
5 Despite section 29, evidence taken by a
Committee specified in column 1 of the
Table (the former committee) before the end
of its term on the expiry of the Assembly in
2006 and in relation to which the former
10 committee had not before the end of that
term made a report to the Parliament may be
considered by the Committee specified
opposite the former committee in column 2
of the Table.
