A BILL
to amend the Parliament House Completion Authority Act 1996
and for other purposes.
Parliament House Completion
Authority (Amendment) Act 1996
The Parliament of Victoria enacts as follows:
1. Purpose
The purpose of this Act is to make provision for
the use of stone from the former Heatherlie quarry
by the Parliament House Completion Authority.
2. Commencement

This Act comes into operation on the day on
which it receives the Royal Assent.

After section 21 of the Parliament House
Completion Authority Act 1996 insert--
"Division 4--Access to stone
21A. Power of Authority

(1) The Authority may--
(a) search for; or
(b) subject to and in accordance with the
Extractive Industries Development
Act 1995, extract or remove--

stone within the meaning of that Act from
the former Heatherlie quarry for the purpose
of using the stone in the undertaking of the
project.
(2) Divisions 1 and 2 of Part 2 of the Extractive

Industries Development Act 1995 do not
apply to or in relation to the searching for
stone by the Authority in the former
Heatherlie quarry.
21B. Former Heatherlie quarry

Despite anything to the contrary in the
National Parks Act 1975, the Authority
may be granted a work authority under the
Extractive Industries Development Act
1995 in respect of the former Heatherlie

quarry, being the land within the Grampians
National Park shown hatched on the plan
lodged in the Central Plan Office in the
Department of Natural Resources and
Environment and numbered N.P. 61/HQ.".
