Cancer Amendment (HPV) Bill 2008
A Bill for an Act to amend the Cancer Act 1958 and for other
purposes.
The Parliament of Victoria enacts:
1 Purpose
The purpose of this Act is to amend the Cancer
Act 1958 to enable reports of tests in relation to
precursors to cancer, such as human papilloma
5 virus (HPV), to be forwarded to organisations that
maintain a prescribed register.
2 Commencement
This Act comes into operation on the day after the
day on which it receives the Royal Assent.

3 Definition of cancer test

5 4 Registers of results from cancer tests
In sections 62(4), 62(5)(c) and 62(9)(b) of the
Cancer Act 1958, after "cancer" insert "or any of
its precursors".
5 Repeal of Act
10 This Act is repealed on the first anniversary of its
commencement.
Note
The repeal of this Act does not affect the continuing operation of
the amendments made by it (see section 15(1) of the
15 Interpretation of Legislation Act 1984).
