On receiving rent in cash or by cheque from a tenant, an owner is to give the tenant a receipt stating –

(a) the date on which it was received; and

(b) the name of the tenant; and

(c) the residential premises in respect of which the rent is paid; and

(d) the amount of rent paid; and

(e) the period to which the payment relates.
