11A. Tenant remaining in possession after notice to determine tenancy

      (1) Where a tenancy has been determined by written notice by either party to the other and the tenant remains in possession of the demised premises after the expiration of such notice, the acceptance by the landlord of any sum of money as rent from the tenant in respect of the occupation of the demised premises for any period not exceeding 6 months after such expiration shall not of itself constitute evidence of a new tenancy, and shall not operate as a waiver of such notice.
