Tasmanian Consolidated Acts
(1) A person shall not make a statement or representation orally or in writing, or provide a document, in relation to an application for legal aid, knowing or believing that the statement, representation or document is false or misleading.
Penalty:
Fine not exceeding 50 penalty units.
(2) Where
a court may, in addition to imposing a penalty in respect of the offence, order the person to pay to the Commission an amount equal to the amount of those expenses incurred by the Commission.(a) a person is convicted of an offence under subsection (1); and
(b) legal aid was granted; and
(c) the Commission incurred expenses in providing the legal aid
