FIREARMS ACT 1996 - SECT 9

PART 2 - Licences Division 1 - Possession, use, purchase and dealing 9. Possession or use of firearms

      (1) A person must not possess or use a firearm unless the person is the holder of a firearms licence of the appropriate category as specified in Division 2 in respect of that firearm.

Penalty:

Fine not exceeding 50 penalty units or imprisonment for a term not exceeding 2 years, or both.

      (2) A person is to apply for a firearms licence in accordance with Division 5 of this Part.
