CONSUMER AFFAIRS ACT 1988 - SECT 13

13. Authorized officers

      (1) The Director is an authorized officer for the purposes of this Act.

      (2) The Secretary of the Department may–

(a) declare that State Service officers and State Service employees employed in the Department; and

(b) with the consent of another Head of a State Service Agency, declare that State Service officers and State Service employees employed in that Agency–

whose appointments are specified in the declaration are authorized officers for the purposes of this Act and those persons may exercise the powers and perform the functions of an authorized officer in conjunction with State Service employment.

      (3) Where the Secretary of the Department, on the advice of the Director, is satisfied that it is necessary or desirable to appoint a person as an authorized officer to assist in carrying out an investigation under this Act, the Secretary of the Department may so appoint a person as an authorized officer to assist in carrying out that investigation.

      (4) An authorized officer appointed under subsection (3) shall be appointed on such terms and conditions as the Secretary of the Department determines.
