(1) On the registration of a cooperative, the persons who signed the application for registration become members of the cooperative.
(2) Other persons may be admitted as members of the cooperative as provided by its rules.
(3) A person under the age of 18 may be admitted as a member of the cooperative unless the rules of the cooperative otherwise provide.
(4) A body corporate is not (merely because it is a body corporate) disqualified from being a member of a cooperative unless the cooperative's rules provide that bodies corporate are disqualified from being members.
(5) If 2 or more cooperatives merge, the members of the merged cooperative are –
(a) the members of the merging cooperatives; and
(b) other persons admitted as members of the merged cooperative in accordance with its rules.
