ACTS INTERPRETATION ACT 1931 - SECT 8A
Regard to be had to purpose or object of Act
(1) In the interpretation of a provision of an Act, an interpretation
that promotes the purpose or object of the Act is to be preferred to an
interpretation that does not promote the purpose or object.
(2) Subsection (1) applies whether or not the purpose or object is expressly stated in the Act.
