REPEAL OF ELECTORAL REGULATIONS
POSTPONEMENT BILL 2003

passed, is now ready for presentation to the Legislative Council for its
concurrence.

A BILL FOR
An Act to postpone the repeal of the Electoral
Regulations 1985
Be it enacted by His Excellency the Governor of Tasmania,
by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative
Council and House of Assembly, in Parliament assembled,
as follows:
Short title
1. This Act may be cited as the Repeal of Electoral
Regulations Postponement Act 2003.
Commencement
2. This Act commences on the day on which this Act
receives the Royal Assent.

Postponement
Postponement of repeal
3. (1) The repeal of the Electoral Regulations 1985 that,
but for this section, was to have been effected on
1 January 2004 under section 11 of the Subordinate
Legislation Act 1992 is postponed until 1 January 2005.
(2) Subsection (1) does not apply so as to prevent the
repeal of the Electoral Regulations 1985 at any time before
1 January 2005.
Administration of Act
4. Until provision is made in relation to this Act by order
under section 4 of the Administrative Arrangements Act
1990
(a) the administration of this Act is assigned to
the Minister for Justice and Industrial
Relations; and
(b) the department responsible to that Minister in
relation to the administration of this Act is the
Department of Justice and Industrial
Relations.
