REPEAL OF REGULATIONS POSTPONEMENT
BILL 2008

A BILL FOR
An Act to postpone the repeal of certain regulations and
by-laws
Be it enacted by His Excellency the Governor of Tasmania, by
and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and
House of Assembly, in Parliament assembled, as follows:
1. Short title
This Act may be cited as the Repeal of
Regulations Postponement Act 2008.
2. Commencement
This Act commences on the day on which this
Act receives the Royal Assent.
3. Postponement of repeals
(1) The staged repeals of the regulations and by-
laws specified in column 1 of Schedule 1 that,
but for this section, were to have been effected
on the respective dates specified in column 2 of
that Schedule are postponed until
1 January 2010.

(2) Subsection (1) does not prevent any of the
regulations and by-laws specified in Schedule 1
from being repealed before 1 January 2010.
(3) In this section
"staged repeals" means repeals effected by
section 11 of the Subordinate Legislation
Act 1992.
4. Administration of Act
Until provision is made in relation to this Act by
order under section 4 of the Administrative
Arrangements Act 1990
(a) the administration of this Act is assigned
to the Minister for Planning and
Workplace Relations; and
(b) the department responsible to that
Minister in relation to the administration
of this Act is the Department of Justice.
5. Expiry
This Act expires on 2 January 2010.
