ROADS AND JETTIES AMENDMENT BILL
2002

A BILL FOR
An Act to amend the Roads and Jetties Act 1935
Be it enacted by His Excellency the Governor of Tasmania,
by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative
Council and House of Assembly, in Parliament assembled,
as follows:
Short title
1. This Act may be cited as the Roads and Jetties
Amendment Act 2002.
Commencement
2. This Act commences on the day on which this Act
receives the Royal Assent.
Principal Act
3. In this Act, the Roads and Jetties Act 1935* is referred
to as the Principal Act.

Section 16B inserted
4. After section 16A of the Principal Act, the following
section is inserted in Part II:
Prohibition of traffic likely to cause damage
16B. (1) Where it appears to the Minister that
traffic of a particular kind is likely to injure
seriously a State highway or subsidiary road, the
Minister may, by causing signs to be placed in
accordance with subsection (2), prohibit the use of
that highway or road by traffic of that kind.
(2) The signs must be posted conspicuously on
or near to the State highway or subsidiary road to
which they relate.
