LOCAL GOVERNMENT AMENDMENT BILL 2006

A BILL FOR
An Act to amend the Local Government Act 1993
Be it enacted by His Excellency the Governor of Tasmania, by
and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and
House of Assembly, in Parliament assembled, as follows:
1. Short title
This Act may be cited as the Local Government
Amendment Act 2006.
2. Commencement
This Act commences on the day on which this
Act receives the Royal Assent.
3. Principal Act
In this Act, the Local Government Act 1993* is
referred to as the Principal Act.

4. Section 334 substituted
Section 334 of the Principal Act is repealed and
the following section is substituted:
334. Director of Local Government
The Governor may appoint a State
Service officer or State Service employee
to be Director of Local Government and
that officer or employee may hold the
office of Director of Local Government
in conjunction with State Service
employment.
