South Australian Consolidated Regulations (1) A person must not
install, replace, repair or maintain a water heater that is, or is to be,
connected to the waterworks or connect the heater to the waterworks
unless—
(a) he
or she is a licensed plumbing contractor or a registered plumbing worker; or
(b) the
land on which the heater is, or is to be, installed is outside a drainage area
constituted under the Sewerage Act 1929 and the work is carried out
before 1 July 1997.
(2) The work must be
carried out in a competent manner in accordance with the Directions and, to
the extent that the applicable specifications and codes of practice for the
time being published by the Standards Association of Australia are not in
conflict with the Directions, in accordance with those specifications and
codes of practice.
(3) In an emergency
the Corporation or a person authorised by the Corporation may turn off the
supply of water and the supply of gas or electricity to a water heater without
the consent of the owner or occupier of the land on which the water heater is
situated.
(4) The Corporation or
other person incurs no civil liability as a result of acting under
subregulation (3).
