South Australian Consolidated Acts (1) If the Chief
Justice is absent on leave, or for any reason is unable for the time being to
perform the duties of his office, the Governor may appoint a puisne judge of
the court to be Acting Chief Justice thereof until the Chief Justice returns
to the execution of the duties of his office.
(2) Upon every such
appointment any power or duty, which is attached by this or any other Act to
the office of the Chief Justice, shall devolve upon the judge so appointed,
and in default of any such appointment, shall devolve (during the absence or
inability of the Chief Justice) upon the senior puisne judge.
