MAGISTRATES COURT ACT 1991 - SECT 21
21—Power of Court to compel the giving of evidence
(1) A person who is
called to give evidence or to produce evidentiary material before a Court
and—
(a)
refuses or fails to make an oath or affirmation when required to do so by the
Court;
(b)
refuses or fails to give evidence on a subject on which that person is
compellable to give evidence;
(c)
refuses or fails without reasonable excuse to produce evidentiary material
that that person is required by the Court to produce,
commits a contempt of the Court.
(2) This section
applies whether the person was summoned before the Court, brought before the
Court on a warrant, or came to the Court of his or her own volition.
