South Australian Consolidated Acts (1) A person who
applies to the Commission for legal assistance and, with intent to deceive or
mislead the Commission, withholds any relevant information that the person is
required by the Commission to furnish, or makes any statement or
representation that is false or misleading in any material particular, is
guilty of an offence.
Maximum penalty: $750.
(2) If the Commission
has made a payment for the provision of legal assistance for a person who has
been convicted of an offence against subsection (1), the Commission may
recover the amount of that payment, as a debt due to the Commission from the
convicted person, in any court of competent jurisdiction.
