HISTORIC SHIPWRECKS ACT 1981 - SECT 23
(1) An inspector may,
without warrant, arrest a person if the inspector reasonably believes—
(a) that
the person has committed an offence against section 13 or the
regulations; and
(b) that
proceedings against the person by summons would not be effective.
(2) If an inspector
(other than a police officer who is in uniform) arrests a person under
subsection (1), the inspector must—
(a) in
the case of an inspector who is a police officer—produce, for inspection
by the person arrested, written evidence of the fact that the inspector is a
police officer; or
(b) in
any other case—produce the inspector's identity card for inspection by
the person arrested.
(3) If a person is
arrested under subsection (1), an inspector must immediately bring the
person, or cause the person to be brought, before a Justice of the Peace or
other proper authority to be dealt with in accordance with law.
(4) Nothing in this
section prevents the arrest of a person in accordance with any other law.
