FORESTRY ACT 1950 - SECT 18
18—Injury to forest reserves
(1) A person who
without the consent of the Corporation injures, destroys or interferes with
any property belonging to, or under the control or management of, the
Corporation is guilty of an offence.
Maximum penalty: $2 500 or 6 months imprisonment.
(2) If any such
property is injured or destroyed by an animal, the owner of the animal will be
taken to have injured or destroyed that property unless he or she proves that
the injury or destruction was caused by the wilful or negligent act of some
other person.
(3) The court by which
a person is convicted of an offence against this section may order that person
to pay to the Corporation compensation for the damage done.
