ELECTORAL ACT 1985 - SECT 43
43—Changes to Register
(1) Where a political
party is registered under this Part, an application may be made to
the Electoral Commissioner, by the registered officer of the party, or any
other person authorised by the party to make the application, to change the
Register by—
(a)
changing the name of the party to a name specified in the application;
(b) if
an abbreviation of the name of the party is entered in the
Register—changing that abbreviation to an abbreviation specified in the
application;
(c) if
an abbreviation of the name of the party is not entered in the
Register—entering in the Register an abbreviation of the name of the
party, being an abbreviation specified in the application.
(2) An application
under subsection (1) must be dealt with in the same way and determined by
reference to the same principles as an application for registration of a
political party.
