South Australian Consolidated Acts (1) The members of the
House of Assembly shall, upon the first assembling after every general
election, proceed forthwith to elect one of their number to be Speaker, and in
case of that member's death, resignation, or removal by a vote of the House,
the said members shall forthwith proceed to elect another of their number to
be Speaker.
(2) The Speaker so
elected shall preside at all meetings of the House of Assembly.
(3) The election of
the Speaker shall be forthwith notified to the Governor by a deputation of the
House.
