Queensland Consolidated Regulations(1) An applicant for driver authorisation for a relevant vehicle that is a taxi must--
(a) be able to speak and understand English; and
(b) have a knowledge of common destinations and major connecting roads within the taxi service area where the applicant intends to drive the taxi; and
(c) either--
(i) have successfully completed a training course for taxi drivers specified by the chief executive; or
(ii) have attained competency in each of the following Road Transport Competency Standards approved by the former Australian National Training Authority established under the repealed Australian National Training Authority Act 1992 (Cwlth)--
(A) Follow occupational health and safety procedures;
(B) Drive a taxicab;
(C) Apply customer service skills;
(D) Apply quality procedures;
(E) Transport persons with disabilities.
(2) A person must not operate a relevant vehicle that is a taxi unless the person has a knowledge of common destinations and major connecting roads within the taxi service area where the person intends to drive the taxi.
(3) An applicant for renewal of driver authorisation for a relevant vehicle that is a taxi must, if required by the chief executive, have successfully completed a training course for taxi drivers specified by the chief executive.
(4) This section is in addition to, and does not limit, section 7.
