1037 Local government authorities
(1) If, immediately before 13 September 2000, there was in force an authority
for a local government to take or interfere with water, the authority
continues under this Act until whichever of the following first happens—
(a)
the chief executive grants a water licence to replace the authority;
(b) the
authority is replaced with a water entitlement, interim resource operations
licence, resource operations licence or distribution operations licence.
(2)
The chief executive may grant a water licence under subsection (1)(a) without
the need for an application to be made under section 206.
(3) Within 30
business days after the chief executive grants the licence, the chief
executive must give the licensee the licence and an information notice about
the granting of the licence.
(4) The licence has effect from the day the
licence is given to the licensee.
