44 Amount of assistance
(1) A witness secondary victim of an act of violence may be granted assistance
of—
(a) if the act is a more serious act of violence—up to $75,000, less
any funeral expense assistance granted to the victim for the act; or
(b) if
the act is a less serious act of violence—up to $20,000, less any
funeral expense assistance granted to the victim for the act.
(2) In addition
to the assistance mentioned in subsection (1) (a) , each witness secondary
victim of a more serious act of violence may be granted assistance of up to
$500 for legal costs incurred by the victim in applying for assistance under
this Act.
