53 Roles and responsibilities for carrying out cultural heritage study
(1) Any person, including the Minister, may be the sponsor for a cultural
heritage study. (2) However— (a) Torres Strait Islander parties are
responsible for assessing the level of significance of areas and objects
included in the study area that are or appear to be
significant Torres Strait Islander areas and
significant Torres Strait Islander objects ; and (b) if the findings of a
cultural heritage study are to be included in the register, the study must be
carried out, and its findings put in written form, in the way this part
requires.
