85 Rule-making power
(1) The Governor in Council may make rules of court under this Act for—
(a)
the practices and procedures of the Supreme Court, the District Court or the
Magistrates Courts or their registries or another matter mentioned in schedule
1 ; or
(b) the admission of persons to the legal profession under the
Legal Profession Act 2007, including fees relating to admission; or
(2) A rule may only be
made with the consent of the rules committee.
(3) Rules made under subsection
(1) (b) may make provision of a saving or transitional nature for which it is
necessary to make provision to allow or facilitate the doing of anything to
achieve the transition from the operation of—
(a) the rules applying
immediately before the commencement of the Legal Profession Act 2004,
section 27to the operation of that Act after the commencement; and
(4) Rules of
court (other than rules for a matter mentioned in subsection (1) (b) or a
matter relevant to criminal jurisdiction or criminal proceedings, other than
proceedings in relation to contempt of court) are to be called the Uniform
Civil Procedure Rules .
