Power to require information, document or thing
38 Power to require information, document or thing
(1) If the commissioner reasonably believes a person has information or a
document or thing relevant to an audit or investigation, the commissioner may,
by notice given to the person, require the person to—
(a) give the
information to the commissioner in writing signed by the person or, in the
case of a corporation, by an officer of the corporation; or
(b) produce the
document or thing to the commissioner.
(2) The notice must state—
(a) the
place at which the information, document or thing must be given or produced to
the commissioner; and
(b) a reasonable time at which, or a reasonable period
within which, the information, document or thing must be given or produced.
