POLICE SERVICE ADMINISTRATION ACT 1990 - SECT 4.2

4.2 Appointment

(1) The Governor in Council may, on a recommendation agreed to by the chairperson of the Crime and Misconduct Commission, appoint an appropriate person as commissioner of the police service.

(2) The appointment is to be made by gazette notice.
