(1) A person must not obstruct a conservation officer in the performance of a
function or the exercise of a power under this Act.
(2) A person is taken to
obstruct a conservation officer in the performance of a function or the
exercise of a power under this Act if the person—
(a) assaults, abuses,
hinders, resists or intimidates the officer or a person assisting the officer
in the performance of the officer’s functions or exercise of the officer’s
powers under this Act; or
(b) deliberately prevents or attempts to prevent
(whether directly or indirectly) a person from—
(i) being questioned by a
conservation officer; or
(ii) giving, under this Act, any information or
document to a conservation officer; or
(c) in any other way obstructs, or
attempts to obstruct, a conservation officer in the performance of the
officer’s functions or exercise of the officer’s powers under this Act.
Penalty—
Maximum penalty—165 penalty units or 1 year’s
imprisonment.
