Appointment of honorary protectors
128 Appointment of honorary protectors
(1) The Minister may, by signed writing, appoint a qualified person, with the
person’s consent, to be an honorary protector.
(2) An honorary protector—
(a) holds office for the term, and subject to the conditions, specified in the
instrument of appointment; and
(b) has the powers of a conservation officer
under section 151 and such other powers as may be prescribed; and
(c) may
resign by writing signed and given to the Minister.
(3) In this section—
"qualified person" means a person who— (a) in the Minister’s opinion, has
the necessary expertise or experience to be an honorary protector; or
(b) has
satisfactorily completed a course of training approved by the Minister.
