156 Powers in support of seizure
(1) This section applies if an inspector is permitted to seize a boat, vehicle
or anything else.
(2) To enable the boat, vehicle or other thing to be
seized, an inspector may, by written notice given to the person in control of
the boat, vehicle or thing, require the person—
(a) to take it to a
specified reasonable place by a specified reasonable time; and
(b) if
necessary, to remain in control of it at the place for a reasonable time.
(3)
If, for any reason, it is not practicable to make the requirement by a written
notice, the requirement may be made orally and confirmed by written notice as
soon as practicable.
(4) A person must comply with a requirement under this
section, unless the person has a reasonable excuse for not complying with it.
Penalty—
Maximum penalty—200 penalty units.
(5) Nothing in this
section prevents an inspector making a further requirement under this section
of the same person or another person in relation to the same boat, vehicle or
thing, if it is necessary and reasonable to make the further requirement.
