(1) This section applies to a compulsory conference under the QCAT Act to
which the parties to a proceeding before the tribunal have been directed to
attend by the tribunal or principal registrar.
(2) In addition to anything
the person presiding over the conference may do under the QCAT Act , the
person may do 1 or more of the following—
(a) identify information to be
given to the tribunal by the parties;
(b) give the parties information about
the tribunal’s practice and procedures;
(c) refer the parties to
alternative dispute resolution.
(3) Also, the person presiding over the
conference may meet with a party separately—
(a) if the person considers
doing so may avoid the escalation of conflict between the parties; or
(b) if
the party is a child and the person considers doing so is in the child’s
best interests having regard to the child’s views and wishes.
