(1) An administrative approval of a person as a relative carer, in force
immediately before the commencement day, continues in force as an approval of
the person as an approved kinship carer.
(2) Subject to this Act, an approval
under subsection (1) continues in force until—
(a) if the
administrative approval was given before 31 July 2004—the anniversary of the
day of its issue first happening after 31 July 2006; or
(b) otherwise—the
second anniversary of the day of its issue.
(3) An administrative approval of
a person as a limited approval carer, in force immediately before the
commencement day, continues in force as an approval of the person as a
provisionally approved carer.
(4) Subject to this Act, an approval under
subsection (3) continues in force until the day stated in the
administrative approval.
(5) In this section—
"administrative approval" means an approval given by the chief executive,
before the commencement day, under an administrative scheme for approving
persons as carers for this Act.
"commencement day" means the day the Child Safety Legislation Amendment Act
2005, section 38, commences.
