149 Appointment
(1) The chief executive may appoint any of the following persons to be an
authorised officer— (a) an officer or employee of the department;
(b) a
person included in a class of persons declared by regulation to be eligible
for appointment as an authorised officer.
(2) However, the chief executive
may appoint a person to be an authorised officer only if— (a) in the chief
executive’s opinion, the person has the necessary expertise or experience to
be an authorised officer; or
(b) the person has satisfactorily finished
training approved by the chief executive.
