Limitation on registration of parentage details
10A Limitation on registration of parentage details
(1) In relation to the registration of a relevant event for a child— (a) the
child’s parent, or 1 of the child’s parents, must be registered as the
child’s mother or as the child’s father; and
(b) not more than 1 person
may be registered as the child’s mother or as the child’s father; and
(c)
not more than 2 people in total may be registered as the child’s parents
(however described).
(2) In this section—
"relevant event" , for a child, means— (a) the child’s birth; or
(b) the
child’s adoption; or
(c) the child’s change of parentage under— (i) a
parentage order or discharge order; or
(ii) a cultural recognition order or
the discharge of a cultural recognition order under the
Meriba Omasker Kaziw Kazipa (Torres Strait Islander Traditional Child Rearing Practice) Act 2020
