In this part—
"cooperative scheme" means the cooperative scheme as defined under the Crimes
at Sea Act 2001 , section 3 .
"criminal laws" means the substantive criminal law, and the law of criminal
investigation, procedure and evidence, within the meaning of the
cooperative scheme.
"laws of the State" means the laws, whether written or unwritten and whether
substantive or procedural, that are from time to time in force in the State,
but does not include—
(a) laws of the Commonwealth; or
(b) criminal laws.
