AGRICULTURAL STANDARDS
AMENDMENT BILL 1993
EXPLANATORY NOTES
Clause 1 provides that the short title of the Act is to be the Agricultural
Standards Amendment Act 1993.
Clause 2 provides for the Act to commence on a day to be fixed by
proclamation.
Clause 3 provides that the Agricultural Standards Act 1952 is to be amended
as set out in the Act.
Clause 4 amends section 16(2) of the Agricultural Standards Act 1952 to
provide that an application for renewal of registration of an agricultural
requirement under section 22(1)(a) is to be made at least 1 month before
registration expires.
Clause 5 amends section 22 of the Agricultural Standards Act 1952 by--
(a) omitting subsection (3) and inserting a new subsection (3) to provide
that the registration of an agricultural requirement in force immediately
before the Agricultural Standards Amendment Act 1993 commences
continues in force indefinitely unless cancelled under section 24, 25, 26 or
36; and
(b) omitting subsection (4) and inserting a new subsection (4) to provide
that subsection (3) is to apply despite any notification to the contrary in the
notification of registration, or notification of renewal of registration, of an
agricultural requirement registered under subsection (1)(b) and (c).

SCHEDULE
The Schedule provides for statute law revision amendments to various
sections of the Act.
