                    EXPLANATORY NOTES

GENERAL OUTLINE
Policy Objectives of the Bill
  The Bill provides supplementary appropriation for 2002-2003 for
unforeseen expenditure that occurred in that financial year for Legislative
Assembly and parliamentary service.
  The supplementary appropriation sought is based on the Statement of
Unforeseen Expenditure to be Appropriated 2002-03 which has been
prepared by the Treasurer and reported upon by the Auditor-General in
accordance with Section 25A of the Financial Administration and Audit
Act 1977. Brief explanations of departmental unforeseen expenditure
requirements of the Legislative Assembly and parliamentary service have
been provided as part of the Statement of Unforeseen Expenditure to be
appropriated 2002-03.




                   NOTES ON PROVISIONS

  Clause 1 provides for the short title of the Act.
   Clause 2 (1) authorises the Treasurer to pay $777,000 from the
consolidated fund for the Legislative Assembly and parliamentary service
for the financial year starting 1 July 2002.
  Clause 2 (2) provides that the amount of $777,000 is appropriated for the
Legislative Assembly and parliamentary service for application to its
departmental outputs for the financial year starting 1 July 2002.
