1. This Act may be cited as the Police Powers and Responsibilities 3
Amendment Act 1998. 4

2. This Act amends the Police Powers and Responsibilities Act 1997. 6
of s 35 (Arrest without warrant) 7
Amendment
3. Section 35-- 8
insert-- 9
`(4) Despite subsection (3), but subject to the Juvenile Justice Act 1992, 10
section 20,1 a police officer may-- 11
(a) arrest a child under a provision of another Act authorising the 12
arrest of a person without warrant; or 13
(b) if the police officer reasonably suspects a child has committed or 14
is committing an offence against section 120 or the Traffic Act 15
1949--arrest the child, without warrant.'. 16
