The Parliament of Queensland enacts-- 1
Clause 1 Short title 2
This Act may be cited as the Nature Conservation Amendment 3
Act 2006. 4
Clause 2 Act amended 5
This Act amends the Nature Conservation Act 1992. 6
Clause 3 Insertion of new s 97A 7
Part 5, division 6-- 8
insert-- 9
`97A Additional restriction on hunting native ducks or 10
native quails 11
`(1) A regulation or conservation plan under this Act does not and 12
can not authorise, whether directly or indirectly-- 13
(a) the recreational hunting of native ducks or native quails; 14
or 15
(b) the issue or giving of a licence, permit or other authority 16
authorising the recreational hunting of native ducks or 17
native quails; or 18
(c) the entry into an agreement or other arrangement 19
authorising the recreational hunting of native ducks or 20
native quails. 21
`(2) The recreational hunting of native ducks or native quails is not 22
and can not be authorised, for section 62(1), 88(2) or another 23
provision of this Act, in any other way provided for under this 24
Act, including, for example, under anything mentioned in 25
section 62(1)(a), (b), (c), (d) or (e). 26
`(3) An authorisation, however called, under this Act that is in 27
existence immediately before the commencement of this 28
section is of no legal effect to the extent it authorises, or 29

purports to authorise, the recreational hunting of native ducks 1
or native quails. 2
`(4) In this section-- 3
recreational hunting, of native ducks or native quails, means 4
hunting directed at killing (including, for example, by 5
shooting) native ducks or native quails for a recreational 6
purpose. 7
