The Parliament of Queensland enacts-- 1

`(1) The Authority's functions are-- 4
(a) to manage, operate, use and promote major sports 5
facilities; and 6
(b) to undertake development of any of the following-- 7
(i) major sports facilities; 8
(ii) sports, recreational or entertainment facilities for 9
declaration as major sports facilities; 10
(iii) infrastructure associated with major sports 11
facilities or proposed major sports facilities.'. 12

`(3A) Also, the power under subsection (1)(b) to acquire freehold 16
land to undertake the development of a sports, recreational or 17
entertainment facility for its declaration as a major sports 18
facility may be exercised only with the prior approval of the 19
Governor in Council.'. 20

`(1) The change of name of the Authority from `Major Sports 3
Facilities Authority' to `Stadiums Queensland' does not-- 4
(a) affect the entity's legal personality or identity; or 5
(b) affect a right, entitlement or liability of the Authority or 6
anyone else; or 7
(c) make legal proceedings by or against the Authority 8
defective. 9
`(2) Without limiting subsection (1), the change of name of the 10
Authority does not affect any right, entitlement, liability or 11
benefit the Authority would have had or enjoyed apart from 12
the change of name. 13
`(3) In addition, but without limiting subsection (1), a legal 14
proceeding that could have been started or continued by or 15
against the Authority under its former name may be started or 16
continued by or against it under its new name. 17
`83 References to Major Sports Facilities Authority 18
`A reference in an Act or document to the Major Sports 19
Facilities Authority may, if the context permits, be taken as a 20
reference to Stadiums Queensland. 21
`84 Recording Authority's changed name in register 22
`(1) The registrar of titles or other person responsible for keeping a 23
register for dealings in property must, if asked by the 24
Authority in the appropriate form, and on payment of any fee, 25
record in the register, for any property vested in the Authority, 26
the change of the name of the Authority from `Major Sports 27
Facilities Authority' to `Stadiums Queensland'. 28
`(2) In this section-- 29
registrar of titles means a public official or authority 30
responsible for registering title to land and dealings affecting 31
land.'. 32
