The Parliament of Queensland enacts-- 1
Clause 1 Short title 2
This Act may be cited as the Mineral Resources Amendment 3
Act 2008. 4
Clause 2 Commencement 5
This Act commences on a day to be fixed by proclamation. 6
Clause 3 Act amended 7
This Act amends the Mineral Resources Act 1989. 8
Clause 4 Amendment of s 130 (Exploration permit to specify 9
minerals sought) 10
Section 130(1)(a), after `coal'-- 11
insert-- 12
`and uranium'. 13
Clause 5 Amendment of s 137 (Grant of exploration permit) 14
Section 137-- 15
insert-- 16
`(2A) An exploration permit granted under this section does not 17
authorise an activity carried out for a purpose that includes 18
exploring for uranium.'. 19

`(1) This section applies to an exploration permit or a mineral 22
development licence granted before the commencement of 23
this section. 24
`(2) Each of sections 137, 147A and 181 as in force immediately 25
before the commencement continues to apply to the mining 26
tenement, as if the amendment of the sections under the 27
Mineral Resources Amendment Act 2008 had not been 28
enacted. 29

`Sections 137, 147A, 181 and 197A as in force immediately 3
after the commencement of this section apply to an 4
application for, or an application for renewal of, an 5
exploration permit or mineral development licence made, but 6
not decided, before the commencement of this section.'. 7
